Frequently Asked Questions

If you’ve got questions we’ve got answers. Our team will ensure that all your questions are answered so that you can feel confident with any dental work that you may need. Contact us if any of your questions are not answered here.

General Hygiene

It is best to see the dentist every 6 months. Dental care plays a crucial role in maintaining overall oral health. Consistent visits to the dentist allow early detection of potential issues before they escalate or cause discomfort.

For optimal oral health, brush your teeth at least twice daily. Regular brushing helps prevent cavities, gum disease, and keeps your smile bright.

If you have bad breath, practice good oral hygiene (including brushing twice daily), flossing, and using mouthwash, gum disease or other factors outside your control may be affecting you. Visit your dentist to get personalized bad breath treatment.

Maintain healthy gums by brushing and flossing daily, attending regular dental check-ups, and adopting a balanced diet. Prevent gum disease with good oral hygiene and professional dental care.

First Appointments

Both! There is a link at the top of our website to schedule an appointment or you can call us during business hours, and we can help you schedule your next visit.

When you come for your visit bring your insurance card so that we can verify your insurance plan before any treatment. Also, come ready with any questions or concerns you have about your oral health.

To help your appointment go smoothly, we’ll send new patient forms in advance. Completing them before your visit ensures a prompt start and on-time appointment. If you need to fill them out at the office, arrive a few minutes early to ensure a smooth process.

We accept most major health insurance companies. Look at our insurance and financing page for more information.

We do not accept Medicaid, but we do accept Medicaid patients who opt to pay out-of-pocket for services.

To manage dental anxiety, communicate your concerns with our team. They can explain procedures, offer sedation options, and use a gentle approach. Deep breathing and visualization techniques may help you relax during treatments.

Pediatric Dentistry

It is recommended to take your child to the dentist for their first check-up around their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth eruption. Early dental visits promote oral health and help establish good dental habits from a young age.

Yes, it is essential to have cavities in baby teeth filled. Even though baby teeth eventually fall out, untreated cavities can lead to pain, infection, and affect the health of developing adult teeth. Filling baby teeth helps maintain oral health and prevents further complications.

To ease your child’s fear at the dentist, use positive reinforcement, gentle explanations, and a pre-visit to familiarize them. Bring their favorite comfort item and rely on our experienced and compassionate staff to make their dental visit stress-free.

Cosmetic Dentistry

We offer lots of different options for cosmetic changes to your teeth. We offer Invisalign, veneers, implants, and much more. View our full services page or schedule an appointment to talk through your options with the dentist.

If your tooth is cracked, seek dental attention immediately. Avoid biting on the affected tooth and rinse your mouth with warm water. Your dentist will assess the severity of the crack and recommend appropriate treatment to prevent further damage.

We offer take-home trays for whitening your teeth. At your appointment ask the dentist about getting a whitening kit.

At Oak Lane Dental we offer Invisalign. Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth. These custom-made aligners gradually shift teeth into their desired positions, providing an alternative to traditional braces. Visit our Invisalign to learn more and book your consultation.
